Adult Braces: The Best Options
Many adults are realizing the advantages of finally getting the smile they’ve dreamed of for as long as they can remember. Did you know that adults currently make up approximately 50% of Docbraces’ patients? It’s not surprising to us because no one, once they have finally gotten a gorgeous smile says, “Gee, I shouldn’t have done that.” To the contrary, they are asking “why didn’t I do this sooner?”We know that many adults hesitate to get braces due to their conspicuous nature but once the decision to improve your smile has been made, you might start to wonder which is the best option: Invisalign or Braces?Certainly, they are both effective ways to correct a misaligned smile and patients have had success with both methods. For some, traditional braces are the way to go. For others, they couldn’t imagine using anything but the Invisalign system. It is a decision that you and your Docbraces orthodontist will make together—however, here is some information to help you along the way.Traditional Braces
Today’s braces are not the “train track” braces of years ago. Modern options are much more comfortable and less noticeable as they come in a number of clear or white options. In general, braces consist of three basic parts: the brackets that are attached to each tooth, the bonding material that attaches the bracket to the tooth, and the archwire. The archwire is the thin metal wire that runs from bracket to bracket and it’s the part of the system that exerts the light force that causes the teeth to move. You’ll be pleased to learn that many modern braces are now made of ceramic and very thin wires, making them significantly less noticeable and obtrusive than the old-fashioned grey metal style.Invisalign
This option straightens patient’s teeth without the wires and brackets associated with metal braces, making it especially discreet. The Invisalign process involves a series of clear, removable aligners worn to straighten the teeth. Each set of aligners is created through computer-generated projections of the ideal trajectory of your teeth, gently guiding each tooth into place. Each set of aligners is worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next in the series. They are removed to eat and to brush your teeth, giving you the freedom to carry on as normal during your treatment. What Adults are Looking for
When it comes to straightening their smiles, we’ve found our adult patients want discretion, comfort and convenience. Although there are several options to choose from when deciding to straighten your teeth, a great number of adults have been opting for Invisalign because of its minimally invasive nature, and the fact that it has little impact on the lifestyle of those who wear it.Orthodontics, like anything else, is subject to advances, innovations and trends. Today’s patients are expecting their teeth straightening options to be discreet, pain-free and compatible with their lives, and we have a range of treatment options to satisfy these needs. Be sure to book a free consultation with your local Docbraces Orthodontist to discuss your options!
